What you'll learn

Supervision Skills in the Early Years

This Safeguarding Supervision Skills in the Early Years course is aimed at nurseries, pre-school owners, school leaders and managers to support the challenges they will experience nowadays when undertaking leadership and management roles within our early years and education environments. This course would also suit those new to the leadership role and need to develop their Supervision Skills.

This Safeguarding Supervision Skills in the Early Years course will enable you to:

  • Identify and define the purpose of supervision, with particular reference to assessing risk in safeguarding work
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of power, authority and control within the supervisory relationship and within an equality and diversity framework
  • Practice skills to apply the learning to real-life situations
  • Recognise the impact of unhealthy processes in supervision and develop strategies to manage them

Safeguarding in the early years can be a complex undertaking. On occasions, a practitioner may not be aware of or consider certain aspects of a child’s situation. Potentially, this could mean risks remain. A skilled supervisor will empower their supervisee to tell a story, reflect, theorise, and plan.
