First Aid & Other

MBK are an accredited Qualsafe centre which ensures we meet the specific requirements, based on existing good practice guidance and the requirements of the EYFS, to deliver the QCF Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (PFA).

The EYFS requires us to have a staff member with full Paediatric First Aid on site at all times and also where trips occur outside the nursery. We find many settings choose to have their whole team trained to ensure meeting this. Since 2016 all newly qualified staff at L2 and L3 must also hold at least a current Emergency PFA certificate to count in ratio for their qualification level.

We offer our Early Years Paediatric First Aid courses either through a bookable calendar course or by delivering to you direct in your setting. We need just 12 people to put on a course in any venue. We’ll even help you fill the places if that is needed.

In addition to our successful Early Years Paediatric First Aid course we have developed a Managing Anaphylaxis, Asthma and Choking for Early Years course. This course serves as a useful update between the 3 years re-qualification period, covering those essential elements that can quickly save live.   Other courses we offer include the Food Hygiene Awareness Course. This is a popular course because it provides for a hands-on experience for practitioners. Whilst there is no requirement under the EYFS to have a live course and many settings offer this as an online course. However, in our experience, by doing this with colleagues in the classroom makes a huge difference to their confidence in handling food.   If you have other course ideas, and you’ve not found them anywhere on our website, then there is a fair chance we can put together a bespoke course to suit your specific needs. You just need to get in touch  with us with your enquiry and we’ll be in touch with you.

Having the reassurance that we always have a reliable training provider to deliver several courses across the year relieves a lot of pressure on me, as a Manager. MBK are efficient and helpful, they take on board any suggestions for the content of courses, meaning they are tailored to our individual settings where possible. We are in our second year using MBK and would highly recommend.

The visits we have had with Tricia and her team have been wonderfully informative, lots of useful information that has proven to be very practical. The visits have assisted with the continued progression of the nursery curriculum and financial stability, along with supporting our self evaluation and staff development.

Tricia hosted a training session I went to, helping us with the additional services costs. I found the session interesting and food for thought within my company. Tricia is a lovely genuine trainer and has huge experience as she has nurseries herself, this enables her to understand where we come from.

It’s great how they share new information and include you all once you have attended one of their courses which are very interesting and encouraging. The file containing all areas of Ofsted EYFS is an easy tool when training Senior Staff.
